.. Watch out for the dates
The GNPC Ghana Fastest Human competition which started in 2013, continues this year with the nineth edition.
Between April to August each year, Reks Brobbey and his company organize 100 meter competitions all over the country, in categories for under 10, under 15, under 18 and seniors over 18 in both male and female.
The winners from each region converge at one location in September to find out whom, amongst the regional winners, becomes Ghana’s fastest human for the year.
According to Reks Brobbey the exercise continues to attract a lot of local talent and with help from sponsors, the Athletics Association and other individuals, athletics scholarships are extended to some to go further their career in the NCAA system in the US, which then polishes the athletes for Ghana to take advantage of during the international scene. For the ones that are not able to go to the U.S., four of the best are selected and for one year, the organisers treat them well with splendid accommodation, nutrition, medical, a sports psychologist for them, the best local sprinting coaches and kitted by Adidas, they join the Speedsters Club.
