Mr. Albert K. Frimpong, Chairman of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) believes Ghanaian athletes would shine if Corporate Ghana invests in them.
Speaking to Yours Truly ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham in England, he said results of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where Ghana won its first medal in nearly 30 years at the biggest sports festival in the world proves that more can be achieved with positive investments.
He commended Twellium Industrial Company and Ashfoam Ghana for their marvelous support and sponsorship, and appealed to other companies to support the youth of Ghana who have decided to use their God given talents to serve Ghana in sports.
The former President of the Ghana Baseball & Softball Association expressed that motivation and encouragement are what the sportsmen and women need to shine, and he is confident that Ghana will certainly improve upon the medal haul at the last Commonwealth Games in Australia.
“Looking at the recent performance of our athletes like Benjamin Azamati and Joe Paul Amoah, I am sure that we shall win more medals, our boxers, the Black Bombers and Judokas are also potential hopes because they have been there before and capable of making the nation proud.
He commended the ladies who have qualified for Beach volleyball and rated them as medal hopefuls.
So far 113 athletes have qualified to represent Ghana at 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
According to Mr. Frimpong, the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee have held series of meetings and they are hoping that corporate Ghana will invest in the potential medal hopefuls.
He revealed that Marketing team will embark on a massive sponsorship drive looking forward to corporate Ghana receiving the GOC /CGA gracefully.
Members of the committee are Mrs Delphina Quaye, Dr. Ben Asante, Dr. Kobby Mensah, Ernest Danso, Fred Amoako, Abdul Aziz Issah, Nat Laryea, Mrs Joyce Mahama, and Nii Okai Nunoo.
