Lucky Annan Ayisah wins 11th Genser PGA Golf Tournament

…As Professional Golfers Enjoy Unique Competition At Celebrity Golf Club

The 11th Genser PGA Golf Tournament witnessed three players tie at the runners up position, however the event was won by easily by inform Lucky Annan Ayisah of the Achimota Golf Club who displayed resilience and tenacity during the competition.

He played to a score of 277 points over the four days of high level golf at the Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono.

Beaming with smiles and ecstatic feelings after the tournament he thanked God for everything and attributed his success to his determination and desire to win.

He went home with the prestigious trophy, cash of 65,000ghc and a hamper.

Annan Ayisah commended the planning committee of the Genser PGA, and hoped for more victories in the future.

“This victory has given me more confidence, and I am not going to rest, but train harder to retain this blue jacket which I have won before and enjoy the feeling” he told Yours Truly.

The three runners up were Yaw. Barry, Vincent Torgah and Augustine Menasseh who led at the initial stages of the competition.

They will share the second place prize with 282 points while Francis Ekpe placed fifth with 286 points.

This year’s tournament which saw many changes and improvements attracted female professional golf players and some countries represented were Zimbabwe, Zambia. Uganda. Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

Senegalese Oumy Dieye won the ladies category and took home 15 000ghc, hamper and trophy.

Veteran multiple awards winner Amos Korblah won the Seniors category prize of 15,000ghc and added another trophy to his collection.

The four day tournament was competitive as every player wanted to win. and there were surprises as 2023 runner up Kojo Barmi (12th) and 2023 winner Sunday Oladepo (11th) from Nigeria were not in the top ten.

Director of Operations of the PGA Ghana, Mr. Ahmed Padori was impressed with the competition, and congratulated the players from other countries, playing for the first time. He cautioned professional golfers to be disciplined and contributed positively to support the PGA executive.

He announced that next year which is the 12th edition will be climaxed with their 50th anniversary (Golden Jubilee).

Mr. Roger Adamah hailed the sponsors of the annual tournament especially gold sponsors, Genser Energy.

Other sponsors were Ripkon Ghana Ltd. Haybel Company Ltd, AECI mining explosives, Kissart Ltd, Prixin Company Ltd and the Professional Golfers Association (PGA).

Mr. Hans De Beer. Chairman of the planning committee described the tournament as very successful and hoped that the 50th anniversary of the PGA next year will be special.

He expressed that at the end of the day golf won so funds must always be available to organise the annual PGA Championship.
