WBO Africa Featherweight Champion, John Abaja Laryea aka ‘Expensive Boxer’ who successfully won his first bout on USA soil told Yours Truly in an exclusive interview before flying to Orlanda that the two boxers that he loves to watch and takes inspiration from are undefeated Americans Floyd Mayweather and Terence Crawford.
He said these two boxers have taught him many lessons in life, apart from what he learns from his trainer, Coach Carl Lokko and manager Sammy Anim Addo.
Laryea who is also undefeated in 14 bouts said his mission, goal and ambition is to become one of the best boxers in the world.
“I am still learning and I hope to achieve greatness, so I don’t joke with my training” he expressed.
According to Laryea, his best friends are children as he loves the kids in and around Bukom and Jamestown and he wants the best for them in their lives.
He urged parents to take good care of their children as no one knows the future.
He hinted that he has been very lucky to meet Coach Lokko and Sammy Anim Addo who changed his life because he could have been a bad boy.
“In fact I thank God Almighty for my life and I wish all my gym mates at the Bronx Boxing Club will be patient ant wait for their time. There is no rush in life because if you rush you will crush” he said.
He thanked his international manager, Peter Kahn for the moral support and encouragement.
