Don Charles, dad and trainer of IBF heavyweight world champion, Daniel Dubois has on Thursday October 17 arrived in Accra on a special visit to Coach Lawrence Lokko’s Bronx Boxing Club.
He was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by Coach Lokko, Boxing consultant Mr. Yoofi Boham and CEO of Bronx Gym, Mt Sammy Amin Addo and Hon Nii Kotey Ashie, aspiring MP for Odododiodoo Constituency
The welcome party included boxers and trainers from the Bronx Gym, members of the Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GHABSU) and some media.
Don Charles who is a Nigerian said he really felt at home and thanked the fans who came to the airport to welcome him. He expressed that Ghana is home and feels proud coming to the motherland for the first time.
He will visit the Bronx Boxing Gym, home of champions on Friday afternoon and some media houses.
He hinted monitoring Ghana and the Bronx Gym from afar and wants to support them due to the passion the boxers and fans have for boxing.
Bronx Gym has a host of WBO Africa champions like Lightweight Sheriff Quaye, cruiserweight Jacob Laryea, featherweight John Laryea and bantamweight Daniel Gorsh. The gym boasts of the Ashanti Warrior, Stanley Nyantekyi and former national cruiserweight champion, Jacob Dickson as well as African Games medalist, Bukom Tilapia Kamoko and Jon Zile
Charles will share some experience and skills with John Laryea, who is expected to make his international debut on November 1 when he fights Nicaragua’s Alexander Mejia in the USA.
