Ghana Shines At 2024 World Armwrestling Championship In Moldova

Ghana’s Blessed Nunoo placed 4th in the 60kg Junior Girls left arm category after losing the 3rd place match at the World Armwrestling Championship which is taking place in Chisinau, Moldova, from August 15–25, 2024..

It was the Best performance by any Ghanaian at the World Championship in Moldova. Blessed comes up today, Monday August 19 in the right arm battle.

The Golden Arms of Ghana is represented by double gold medallists and African champions Grace Minta of the Ghana Police Service, Edward Yamoah Asamoah of the Ghana Immigration Service, Blessing Abeka Nunoo, and Godwin Sackey, both civilians with the Ghana Immigration Service.

Head Coach Nii Otoo Larkyne accompanied the team with Husseini Akuetteh Addy, Head Referee for the Armwrestling Federation of Africa and World Armwrestling Referees Panel member, as well as Ms. Abigail Fremah, a senior referee.

Ghana is ranked 19th in the World and second in Africa, the Team seeks to win a World championship medal for the first time, after collecting 41 medals at the 13th African Games in Accra.

Meanwhile, President of Ghana and Vice of the World Armwrestling Federation, Charles Osei Asibey has been honoured by the world body for supporting the global development of Armwrestling in Moldova on Sunday.

The Moldovan National Sport Federation of Armwrestling (FNSARM) is hosting the biggest gathering of armwrestlers globally, under the leadership of President Alexandru Grumeza and General Secretary Ms. Anna Belenciuc.
