It’s cheers and champagne as Africa wins its first boxing medal in this year’s Paris Olympic Games.
The heavy heavypour that drenched the African boxers on Monday has subsided.
Africa’s first boxing medal follows David Pina’s qualification to the quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory over Thailand’s Thitisan Panmod.
The Cape Verde boxer will now take on Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the quarters-finals, and that’s how Africa has won its first Olympic medal since one of them will be in the semi-finals.
The big question remains : who will win this mouth-watering quarter-final bout?
The winner might meet world champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan who is expected to make it to the last two.
