NFF Sacks Amuneke, Joseph Yobo and Entire Member of Super Eagles Technical Crew After Eguavoen Resigned

Emmanuel Amuneke and other members of the Super Eagles technical crew have all been relieved of their duties by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The technical crew, led by Augustine Eguavoen, were saddled with the responsibility of qualifying for the World Cup, but they failed The Super Eagles were forced to a 1-1 draw in Abuja by the Black Stars, which means Ghana are through to the World Cup in Qatar.

The Nigeria Football Federation has relieved all members of the Super Eagles technical crew including Emmanuel Amuneke after the team failed to secure World Cup qualification.

Technical Adviser of the team Augustine Eguavoen earlier tendered his resignation to the football house, and now the NFF has told other members of the technical crew to leave with immediate effect.

In February 2022, the NFF Board approved a recommendation of the technical and development committee by retaining Augustine Eguavoen as technical director/technical adviser (interim) while Emmanuel Amuneke became the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles.

Eguavoen stepped down from that position following the World Cup debacle and the NFF has been forced to relieve other members of the technical crew.

The NFF has withdrawn the two-and-half-year contract offered to the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect. A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.

The NFF general secretary Mohammed Sanusi said: “We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours.”

Sunday Dare stated that in sports, nothing is 100 per cent certain and that the Federal Government gave every support for the Super Eagles to qualify.
