Alan Kyerematen, a former Presidential hopeful from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a promise to spearhead significant investments in the construction of top-tier sports facilities across Ghana, should he be elected as President in the 2024 general elections.
In an announcement on Monday, September 25, Kyerematen revealed his decision to leave the NPP on Monday, expressing his intention to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming polls.
Unveiling his comprehensive 15-point Great Transformational Plan (GTP), Kyerematen emphasized his vision of “investing in world-class new generation sports facilities in selected competitive sporting disciplines.”
He stated that his administration would “encourage the participation of the private sector in the development of sports infrastructure around the country.”
This initiative would encompass the establishment of sports academies.
The condition of Ghana’s sporting infrastructure has emerged as a prominent topic of discussion in recent months, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the absence of high-standard facilities and the subpar maintenance of existing ones.
